quotation, stuff happens

I posted a quotation to the Grow Organisation blog - worth reading
http://groworganisation.wordpress.com/2007/08/04/quote-for-the-week/

and the Book of the Week, this week is
... Stuff
Happens (and then you fix it!): 9 Reality Rules to
Steer Your Life Back in the Right Direction

Stuff Happens (and then you fix it!) is a simple guide for getting through life’s rough spots and turning these challenges into positive opportunities for personal growth. Life, as good as it is, is sometimes going to throw some dirt on you. This uplifting and inspirational book by two award winning authors, internationally renowned Speaker Hall of Famer John Alston and five-time Emmy award winner Lloyd Thaxton, offers nine “Reality Rules” for dealing with these trying times and getting your life backon track. Keeping these nine rules in mind helps readers prepare for the stuff that happens and gives them the attitude adjustment they need to succeed. The many stories in the book of people bouncing back from all kinds of big and little problems by applying one or more of the nine reality rules offers proof that these rules really work. It’s not what happens to you that’s important, it’s how you respond to what happens and Stuff Happens (and then you fix it!) tells you not only how to respond but how to fix it.

The Brain Type Test
Are You Left-Brained or Right-Brained? The brain is composed of two hemispheres. While each hemisphere has unique functions, which one side performs and the other does not, both hemispheres possess the ability to analyze sensory data, perform memory functions, learn new information, form thoughts, and make decisions. Which is your dominant half?

From Bill Bradley

--You know you're living in 2006 when...

1. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.
4. Your boss doesn't have the ability to do your job.

June 11th

We saw "Shrek 3" today. I'm not sure that it had the same sort of story as its predecessors, and the magtiian was ... well... a strange part of the plot, but I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed going out with the boys (and their dad!). We explored the new shopping centre that housed the cinema complex. It seems to be the new village style of shopping centre that is spreading across Australia.

Sent out the latest "Thought for the Day" today. It's online at http://www.consultpivotal.com/thought.htm

Posted Using humour images and cartoons in presentations on the public speaking blog.

and offered the assessment - Are you a team player? on the Organisation Management Blog.

Here is this week's bit Just for fun

Dilbert's Words of Wisdom

Poor Dilbert (the cartoon character, for any who aren't familiar with him) has a cynical attitude, but often knows exactly what's going on and where the truth is buried.

Here are a few nuggets of wisdom from the Corporate World. Enjoy!

I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow is not looking good either.

I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.

Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn't there the first time, chances are you won't be needing him again.

On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key.

Don't be irreplaceable -- if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.

After any salary raise, you will have less money at the end of the month than you did before.

When bosses talk about improving productivity, they are never talking about themselves.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit, and remove all evidence that you tried. No use being a damn fool about it.

You are always doing something marginal when the boss drops by your desk.

If it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done.

When you don't know what to do, walk fast, carry a clipboard, and look worried.

Good night!!
